"The purpose of this project was to defy the viewer’s expectations of everyday, mundane objects and the functions we ascribe to them. Through making a chair that would be completely not practical and composed of ready-made objects—forks, knives, and spoons—I wanted to playfully challenge the concept of what a chair is, an idea I borrowed from Joseph Kosuth’s 1965 One and Three Chairs. My sculpture presents an eerie and absurd view, both tempting the beholder to sit on it, and convincing them that once they do it, they will themselves become a meal. in total, I used 1554 forks, knives, and spoons and glued them to the chair’s frame.”
