"My Women is a project driven by my passion for sketching the female body. For a very long time, I have been fascinated by the beauty and complexity of a nude. Women are often objectified because of their bodies, hence in this project, I wanted to reveal the beauty of each of them, and treat all shapes and sizes equally. Furthemore, I wanted to appreciate femininity and its power. I chose Women by Charles Bukowski to draw over, because he explicitly examines and in great detail showcases women’s bodies. Although I acknowledge the fact that he often is vulgar towards women in his novels, I also notice that his focus on how men react to female bodies can be a way to women’s empowerment.”
